Heaven’s Door Bootleg Vol. I: 26 Year Rye Whiskey, Finished in Japanese Mizunara Oak

Bootleg Series Vol. I is a 26 year rye whiskey finished in Japanese Mizunara oak at 111.5 proof, the oldest whiskey Heaven's Door has ever released. Twenty-six years in the barrel is past the point where most American whiskey survives, let alone improves. Mizunara is so porous and slow-growing that most distillers avoid it entirely, since it leaks, it splits, and it will bury anything young underneath sandalwood and incense. This whiskey had the age and the weight to take it and come back better.
